  • As a small business owner, Ron knows first hand the many struggles many businesses owners face in striving to run a successful business. Small businesses play a major part in Nevada’s economy and need the support of the Nevada legislature as they continue to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic and fight to continue to serve the local community.  Ron wants to not only increase protections of small businesses, but push legislation that will encourage Nevadan’s to start small businesses.

  • Ron believes in supporting hardworking Nevadans, creating good-paying jobs and increasing the wages of Nevada workers so that wages match Nevada’s cost of living. Ron understands that labor unions are the backbone of our economy and Ron wants to ensure that they are protected and he will work to create better benefits that will allow workers to support themselves and their families. In the Nevada legislature Ron will push legislation that will offer substantial benefits to working Nevadans and business, that will incentivize businesses to move to Nevada and create new jobs, ultimately boosting Nevada's economic growth.

  • Hardworking Nevadans are being squeezed by rising costs on everyday needs like housing, gas, groceries, child care, and so much more. In the legislature Ron will work to lower costs for the middle class, give families more breathing room, and build an economy that levels the playing field for workers and small businesses.

Reproductive Freedoms

Ron Nelsen is a pro-choice candidate and strong supporter of reproductive freedom. Ron believes in protecting women’s reproductive rights, and preserving access to reproductive healthcare services like contraception, and abortion. Ron Nelsen believes everyone should have the right to make their own healthcare decisions without political interference, and without their privacy being violated by politicians. In the Nevada legislature Ron will continue his support and pass legislation that will ensure reproductive freedoms will remain protected in Nevada.

Education: Improving Our Schools

Ron knows that to build a bright future for Nevada we must start in the classroom with education, and improve our schools for our youth. Once in the legislature Ron is prepared to pass legislation that will provide funding to our schools, and ensure our teachers are paid fairly. Every child should receive a quality education that will prepare them to continue to lead Nevada forward. Ensuring that every student receives a quality education, and teachers are paid fair wages is how we ensure that Nevada’s future is in great hands for generations to come. Additionally Ron will fight to reduce class sizes, and support legislation that will incentivize educators to fill vacancies in our schools. Ron Nelsen is prepared to:

• Ensure teachers and support staff are paid fairly, and won’t have to come out of pocket for supplies

• Increase funding to our schools and ensure money goes to all schools regardless of zip code or status.

• Support legislation that incentivizes and attracts educators to our State to fill teacher vacancies, and address Nevada’s teacher shortage.

Public Safety

Ron wants to improve Nevada’s public safety and pass legislation that will create safer communities. Ron supports our police officers, firefighters, and all first responders and the sacrifices they make everyday to keep us safe. In the legislature he wants to further his support of law enforcement, and push legislation that provides funding, resources, extensive training and mental health support so that they can continue to protect our communities, and themselves.

Lowering Healthcare Costs and Housing Costs

• Ron believes that everyone should have access to affordable quality healthcare. Ron understands that many families struggle with the debt of hospital bills, and medical costs and often can’t afford to seek the medical attention they desperately need. Ron is committed to pushing legislation that will lower prescription drug costs, expand medicaid, and prioritize mental health. Healthcare should be a priority and increasing the quality of Nevada’s healthcare system begins with investing Nevada’s public health system.

• Ron will make sure we take on Big Pharma and Greedy Corporate Investors to prevent price gouging in Nevada’s housing and healthcare markets.

Addressing Climate Change and renewable energy

Ron understands the threat the climate crisis poses to our environment, and the health of Nevadans. There is an urgency to address the climate crisis and Ron is committed to support and propose solutions that acknowledge the significance of climate change. In the Nevada legislature he will push legislation to reduce carbon emissions, and encourage investments in renewable energy that will protect Nevadans and our environment. Ron believes that in addressing climate change we are creating a safe environment for generations to come.

Gun Violence Prevention

It is no secret that Gun violence has devastated the Nevada community on more than one occasion. With the October 1 mass shooting being documented as the deadliest mass shooting in our country's history, Ron believes it’s time to act and implement legislation to protect Nevadans from senseless gun violence. As a gun owner himself, Ron is a staunch advocate for common sense gun safety legislation, because believes no one should live in fear of gun violence. Once in the Nevada legislature he will support background checks of gun owners, legislation that will keep guns out of the hands of those who want to inflict harm on others or themselves, all while still protecting the second amendment and allowing responsible gun owners to exercise their right to carry responsibly.

Protecting Democracy

Ron understands what is at stake in this election, and believes that our Democracy is its strongest when those of different backgrounds, and beliefs can not only participate in crafting the future through voting, but also when they can come together to make decisions that better all communities despite their views. Ron believes in preserving the right to vote and representing the views of constituents at all levels of government so that members of our communities know that their voices are heard.
